Wawanesa Insurance expands operations in community where company was founded 123 years ago
WAWANESA, Manitoba, May 23, 2019 - The Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company today celebrated the opening of its expanded Head Office in the village of Wawanesa - the community where the company was founded in 1896.
“Today, our company is Canada’s largest mutual insurer, and it all started here in Wawanesa 123 years ago,” said President and CEO Jeff Goy. “Even as our company continues to grow across Canada and in the United States, we’re proud to reinforce our commitment to investing in Manitoba and to honour our roots in this community.”
The new expanded office is located across the street from Wawanesa’s original headquarters and existing Head Office. The company will operate both offices in support of its business throughout the region.
“Our expansion of operations in Wawanesa reflects our continued business growth,” said Kevin Bailey, the company’s Central Region Vice President. “Since 2016, we’ve increased our employee count in this location by 31%, adding 21 new positions for a total of 85 people. Going forward, we will continue to recruit for new positions in the region.”
