Wawanesa joins community wildfire response in Lac du Bonnet area with on-the-ground member support and $10,000 donation

Lac du Bonnet, MB - To support our members affected by wildfires in Lac du Bonnet, the Rural Municipality of Alexander, and Nopiming Provincial Park, Wawanesa Insurance has deployed its Mobile Response Unit (MRU) to the region.

Wawanesa’s MRU, which operates across Canada, allows the company to respond quickly during a crisis. The mobile command vehicle arrived at the Lac du Bonnet Community Centre last Friday and will remain in place until Thursday evening. Wawanesa team members working out of the MRU are providing personalized support to members by helping them open claims, issuing per diems, and distributing care kits.

“As a mutual insurer, we exist to support our members—and that means showing up when it matters most,” said Evan Johnston, President & CEO of Wawanesa. “Deploying our MRU in our home province is a powerful example of that commitment in action.”

Wawanesa was the first insurer on the ground in Lac du Bonnet, enabling us to provide immediate support. We also contacted every member in the impacted area to offer assistance with the claims process.

To support recovery efforts and future wildfire prevention, Wawanesa is donating $10,000 to the rural municipalities of Lac du Bonnet and Alexander.
