Wawanesa continues to grow in Ontario
New regional leadership builds on recent gains
Toronto, ON - The Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company (Wawanesa) today announced that Susan Williams-Bonet will join the company as Vice President, Ontario Region, for Wawanesa’s P&C Operations. Ms. Williams-Bonet takes over for Josie Porto who retires this year following a distinguished 36-year career with Wawanesa.
“Together with our broker partners, we want to serve more Ontario businesses, farms and families,” said Carol Jardine, Wawanesa’s President of Canadian P&C Operations. “Susan is well respected across Ontario, and the right person to build on our recent successes.”
Wawanesa is focused on growing in Ontario by being the easiest insurer to do business with and bringing in new products that respond to evolving customer needs.
In addition to an industry leading suite of APIs, Wawanesa is working to make small commercial insurance easier to quote, bind and renew. The company also plans to launch a revamped farm insurance product next year, and has recently launched a new suite of personal property products designed to help people make their homes more energy efficient and more resilient to climate change.

Throughout Ms. Williams-Bonet’s career in Canadian insurance, she has progressed through leadership roles and driven positive business outcomes, most recently as AVP, Sales and Distribution with Definity Financial Group. She holds an Executive MBA from Quantic School of Business as well as an Honours Bachelor of Arts from Carleton University.
Ms. Williams-Bonet’s appointment is effective December 14, 2022.
