Oregon Auto Insurance Coverage

The following brief descriptions are provided to assist in understanding the coverage options available. Any coverage provided by a Wawanesa Insurance Policy is subject to the actual policy wording, endorsements, and declaration page(s) and all terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions therein.

 

Bodily Injury Liability - Mandatory Coverage

This coverage protects you against possible loss of your home, income and life savings (financial loss) should your vehicle injure or kill anyone and you are legally liable. It also pays for related legal defense, court and investigative costs. This coverage pays up to the first limit for any one person and up to the second limit for two or more persons injured or killed.

Property Damage Liability - Mandatory Coverage

This coverage protects you against financial loss when your vehicle damages another person's property, such as their vehicle, if you are legally liable.

Personal Injury Protection - Mandatory Coverage

This coverage provides reimbursement of medical and hospitalization expenses, payment for income continuation, loss of essential services, child care, and funeral expenses incurred due to an accident.

Comprehensive - Including Fire & Theft - Optional Coverage

This coverage helps pay to repair or replace your vehicle if it’s damaged by an event other than a collision. Examples include fire, theft, earthquake, explosion, glass breakage, riot, vandalism and wind storm. Comprehensive coverage comes with a deductible, which is the amount you pay before your coverage helps pay for your claim.

This coverage pays either the actual value of your vehicle or the cost to repair, whichever is less.

For all new policies issued on or after August 1, 2021 and all existing policies which are renewed on or after September 1, 2021:

Comprehensive coverage will also include Rental Expense coverage automatically.

Collision - Optional Coverage

This coverage provides protection if your vehicle is damaged or considered a total loss due to a collision. For example, if you rear-end another car, hit a tree or fence, or another car runs into yours. Collision coverage comes with a deductible, which is the amount you pay before your coverage helps pay for your claim.

This coverage pays either the actual value of your vehicle or the cost to repair, whichever is less.

For all new policies issued on or after August 1, 2021 and all existing policies which are renewed on or after September 1, 2021:

Collision coverage will also include Rental Expense coverage automatically.

Roadside Assistance - Optional Coverage

This coverage pays up to $100 for each disablement of your vehicle when using our Roadside Assistance Sign and Drive Option. Maximum reimbursement using any other licensed service provider is $50 per disablement. Lockout Service is limited to $100.

Roadside Assistance is not available for Travel Trailer/Recreational Trailers or Motorhomes. There is a limit of one (1) reimbursement per disablement and a total of two (2) incidents per covered vehicle per policy period.

Rental Expense

(Available on vehicles insured for Comprehensive or Collision Coverage)
This coverage provides compensation for a replacement rental car while your vehicle is being repaired and the cause of damage to your vehicle is covered under either Comprehensive or Collision.


For all new policies issued on or after August 1, 2021 and all existing policies which are renewed on or after September 1, 2021:

Rental Expense coverage is automatically included on any insured vehicles that carry Comprehensive or Collision coverage. If you’re unable to drive your vehicle due to a covered claim, you’ll have the peace of mind that comes from knowing you have alternative transportation. Rental Expense coverage includes compensation you can use for a rental car, to pay for public transit, or even rideshare services while your vehicle is being repaired.

Uninsured Motorist Bodily Injury - Mandatory Coverage

(Coverage limits will match liability coverage unless a waiver is signed)
This coverage provides protection against the hazard of bodily injury caused by someone who has no auto liability insurance or whose Bodily Injury Liability limits are not enough to pay the full amount you are legally entitled to recover as damages up to your chosen limit for this coverage.

Uninsured Motorist - Property Damage - Optional Coverage

This coverage is available on all vehicles and provides up to $20,000 towards the lesser of either repairs to or the actual cash value of your vehicle for damages, subject to a deductible, caused by an uninsured vehicle.

Vehicle Manufacturer Replacement Parts - Optional Coverage

(Available on vehicles insured for Comprehensive and Collision Coverage)

This endorsement is available for an additional premium to provide coverage for the amount to repair or replace property or parts with those made for or by the Original Equipment Manufacturer. To be eligible for this optional coverage, the vehicle must be less than 11 years of age and carry both collision and comprehensive coverage.

Special Vehicle Equipment - Optional Coverage

(Available on vehicles insured for Comprehensive or Collision Coverage)

Special Vehicle Equipment means custom furnishings or equipment permanently attached to the pays for loss or damage to Special Vehicle Equipment valued at $1,501 or more where the cause of damage to your vehicle is covered under either Comprehensive or Collision.
