Wawanesa Donates 10,000 USD To American Red Cross In Support Of Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts

WINNIPEG, MB and SAN DIEGO, CA September 7, 2017 – The Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company (Wawanesa), one of the largest property and casualty insurers in Canada with a growing presence in the United States, today announced it will donate $10,000 U.S. towards the American Red Cross and its efforts to help those communities impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

“Our hearts are with all those affected by Hurricane Harvey, particularly those who have been displaced from their homes,” said Jodi Carradice, Wawanesa’s Senior Vice-President and Chief Human Resources Officer. “This donation is intended to help fund recovery efforts and to show our support for the thousands of people impacted by the devastation.”

While Wawanesa does not operate in the state of Texas, the company has a long history of providing aid in times of disaster, and helping communities rebuild and recover.

“When disaster strikes, we are given an opportunity to stand behind our neighbours in empathy and support,” said Chris Henn, President of Wawanesa’s U.S. Operations. “Our thoughts are with the people in Texas and in the Gulf Coast during this difficult time.”
