I was responsible for causing an accident. Will my car insurance rates go up?

It depends. If you are found to be 51% or more responsible for the accident and there is more than $1,000 in total resulting damages, or someone was injured or killed, you are considered at-fault in the accident and your premium will increase at your next policy renewal.

How long does an at-fault accident and/or a traffic conviction surcharge remain on my auto insurance policy?
A surcharge for an at-fault accident and/or a traffic conviction remains on your auto insurance policy for 3 years, starting from the first renewal after the accident and/or conviction date.
