Principle 5: Limiting Use, Disclosure and Retention ~ Summary

Wawanesa Insurance shall not use or disclose personal information for purposes other than those for which the information was collected (see Principle 2) except with the consent of its Customer or as required by law. Personal information shall be retained only as long as necessary for the fulfillment of those identified purposes, after which time it is destroyed, erased or made anonymous.

There are situations specific to property & casualty insurance business where Wawanesa Insurance will provide personal information as dictated by prudent insurance practices. For example, as part of the underwriting and claims handling process, Wawanesa Insurance may transfer personal information to other insurance companies, including reinsurance companies, which share in the risk. Such transfers are made on the basis that the confidentiality of the information will be maintained.
